Tricks that make it faster
- Ask the question as a times table: 42 ÷ 6 is the same as asking what times 6 makes 42.
- To divide by 4, halve and halve again. To divide by 8, halve three times.
- Split the number into easy parts: 96 ÷ 4 is 80 ÷ 4 plus 16 ÷ 4, so 20 + 4 = 24.
